I’m Going To Go Back There Someday

I’M GOING TO GO BACK THERE SOMEDAY

(Lyrics & Music Paul Williams/Ken Ascher)

This looks familiar
Vaguely familiar
Almost unreal yet
It’s too soon to feel yet
Close to my soul and yet so far away
I’m going to go back there some day.

Sunrises, nightfalls
Sometimes the sky calls
Is that a song there?
Then do I belong there?
I’ve never been there but I know the way
I’m going to go back there some day.

There’s not a word yet for old friends
Who’ve just met
Part heaven, part space
Or have I found my place?
You can just visit, but I plan to stay.

I’m going to go back there some day

Why I Am Such A Pack Rat.

***I understand that this really isn’t poetry of any kind, but this is the way it came out of my head.  Take it as it is.  This is why I am such a pack rat:

One may come to wonder

if my brain is held together

by bandaids and duct tape

with all my memories

seeping out,

or like a firefly in a jar

with the lid in my hand.

So many of my memories

would have left me for good

if it wasn’t for bandaids

duct tape and tupperware jars.

Man Can’t Live On Bacon Alone… or can he?

Bacon Makes It Better

Bacon Makes It Better

Bacon has always been a heavenly food to me, barely cooked or burnt to a crisp, it doesn’t matter.  But I have to admit that it has never hit me to try making my it my sole intake, although It’s doesn’t sound like a horrible idea… I love me some bacon!  Well, this guy, Michael J Nelson, is gonna try just that.  For one month, February, he has and will continue to only eat bacon and nothing else.  Although he has stated that to avoid dehydration is making an exception for the following: beer, wine, martinis and water.  He has declared this month Bacon Stupidity Month. (I think that’s probably an appropriate title)

You can read about his progress, thoughts, and love for bacon on his blog.

Seventy Two Words

The other day I came across a blogging literary experiment of sorts and I was immediately intrigued.  It’s an experiment where people can submit a very short story consisting of only 72 words.  Here are some of my favorites… (Check out the rest at www.seventytwowords.com)

One Hundred and Eight

i love you, he confesses.
she shushes him with the motion of reaching for her pack. silly. you’ve only fallen in love with an idea of me. your human heart is as small as your fist and as big the curve of sky. give it. give it give it give it until you have given everything.
this is how we must live, he says, wryly. in defiance of broken hearts and death.
