Global Zero
Apr 8
The Global Organization asking for the destruction of all nuclear weapons. It’s a wonderful thought, I hope they can do it someday! It is very interesting that we are the only country that has ever used one and yet we think no one else can be trusted with them. I really do think that may qualify us as arrogant. My that’s just my perspective. What do you think?

I’m Just Not Quite Sure…
Feb 19
I’m just not quite sure what to think about this one… There is nothing wrong with the President bringing hope… even if it is on an individual basis, but these people almost seem like they’re praying to the man! Looks like the president might be the next Ty Pennington bringing dreams to reality. Didn’t Richard Simmons host a show like this for a while? I’m just not sure this is a good idea?

“Meta-Cognition”
Feb 6
So today I didn’t get any good calls to substitute teach so I went home (because I’ve been staying with my Grandma while my parents house is being water-proofed) to help do some stuff around the house and I caught the tail end of an interview on the colbert report. I like this guy. The discussion they were having reminded me so much of all the debates Jake and I used to have about emotion and logic. What most intrigued me was this idea of “Meta-cognition”, thinking about thinking. The question was, “Is there a way to know whether you are making a decision emotionally or rationally?” Jonah Leher then explained that when you are making a decision you should stop and think about why you are about to make the decsion you are making, is it emotional, rational, or a good balance of the two. I enjoyed the interview very much so I will post it down at the bottom. He made a few other really good points so I will put some of the quotes from the interview below as well. Enjoy!
“So often we are not directly in control of our actual thoughts.”
“The emotional brain can take in far more information than we are aware.”
“Patients who can’t feel emotion become pathologically indecisive.”
